Grumpy Training

Well, actually, I suppose this ought to be entitled Grumpy lack of training! I can't see much of a performance at the 2009 New Year's Day '10', as I have had this dreadful cold for much of December. A crashing bore, as I felt the fitness situation was coming along well until the cold. So now I'm several kilos overweight. Ho hum, at least I am following Team Grumpy rule number 1: "Remember, make your excuses before you race"!

The first Team Grumpy outing in 2009 will be the Port Talbot Wheelers 2-up '25' on March 1st.

and that first outing for 2009 will be without the desired skinsuits. Still, chances are we'll be so padded up with thermal undergarments that the skinsuits wouldn't have stretched sufficiently anyway - and that's without your weight gain to factor in too.

Without wishing to revisit the "bickering gay couple in Tesco's" thing (not that there's anything wrong with that), I hope to work off the blubber by March 1st.

Otherwise we'll have to call ourselves 'team Walrus' or something. Mind you, then we'd also have to grow moustaches - oops, back to Tesco's again - (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Better get pedalling ... I'd be surprised if you made it through your office door after Christmas culinary excesses ... may have to get Estates to widen it ;)

My attempts at a 'quality' session on the turbo this afternoon came to nowt. I think the poxy cold has travelled down the wires and got to me. I will try again tomorrow.

Also, if you're as overweight as you reckon then maybe 'Grumpy Blob' would be a better name.

Art - the "grumpy blob" joke has been made before!

Yeah, buut why let that get in the way?

Back to the subject of training: having missed one theother day, I was able to get it done yesterday (2 x 20 mins at threshold with 10 min recovery) and I felt good. Today, I followed it up with 70 mins at level two, keeping a cadence of 102 rpm! I am starting to feel quite good again.
